Musiker - Progressive Rock

ZAPPATiKA was formed in the late 90s by Keltik minstrel McINNES - and bionic Indo-Dutch Drummer BATTATUTTI - with the intention of performing some of FZ´s music, but also to further develop and -modernize-certain concepts and rhythmic and melodic principles contained in Franks enormous catalogue of composition. The band has always written and played their own compositions also and often like to play around mixing FZ with ZAPPATiKA Although ZAPPATiKA uses many guest musicians (depending on what the music requires) some have become permanent fixtures , like ZOMBY WOOF on Guitar and vocals, BONGO FURY on Percussion and Odd Noizes, and taking care of the -live- musical direction and that strange world of Sequencing and Keyboards, the inimitable and inscrutable DR LAU !!

Anywayzz , we hope yooooozz enyoyyzzzzz our little bit of praise for the great man....Mr Frank Zappa - no animals or republicans were injured during the making of our music nor do we take any kind of responsibility for injuries caused to your mind by listening to ZAPPATiKA -instead we invite you all round for dinner and nice game of cards next wednesday afternoon at about 2.30

From UNITED MUTATIONS.com (10.11.08) zappatika: the short but legendary flight of the dodo (scheduled, cd, uk, private release) The latest Zappatika album is entitled -The Short But Legendary Flight Of The Dodo-. Compared to their previous -Live On Stage- release, -Dodo- marks quite a different direction. I remember having a short chat with McInnes at the latest Zappanale festival in Bad Doberan, and he told me that -Dodo- would bring Zappa to the younger generation. It was aimed at the club / dance / dj audience. I probably nodded and said something like -Hmm...Interesting...- Listening to -The Short But Legendary Flight Of The Dodo- makes it clear what McInnes tried to explain to me. You get Zappa-inspired music, but it comes with beats, rhythms, samples and melodic patterns that one immediately connects to the contemporary dance scene. Imagine spun out guitar solos in a dance-remix version where the samples are taken from FZ´s catalogue. So, again, I have to say -Hmm...Interesting-, only this time I would really like to see it being played by a DJ for a dance audience. I like this. I hand´t thought this would be my cup of tea, but I really like it.
